My vision is of a Tasmania that stands on its own two feet and is open for business, with a government that provides leadership and functions within its means. We deserve quality services in the areas of health, education and law and order, but we must have a strong economy to achieve this and to provide job opportunities for young people.
Pembroke is a great place to live, work, and raise a family but with your help I want to make it even better. Our Plan for a Brighter Future will create jobs for our young people, and ensure every available dollar is spent on frontline services such as health and police. We will invest in education, and tackle the cost of living pressures. These are my priorities!
The Liberals have announced 90 policies which will create a brighter future for Pembroke residents including:
And much more...
Protecting our ChildrenAs part of a majority Hodgman Liberal Government I will introduce minimum mandatory jail terms for those who commit serious sexual crimes against children.
There is no excuse for child sexual abuse. This policy will send a strong message to offenders that there will be zero tolerance for such henious crimes.
Road safety and public transport is a critical issue on the Eastern Shore. The Mornington roundabout is constantly raised with me as a source of safety concern and all steps must be taken to ensure the risk of accidents at this busy roundabout are minimised.
I am also fighting for funds to complete upgrades to the eastern approaches to the Tasman Bridge. Improved and safer access from the East Derwent Highway (Rose Bay end) to the Tasman Highway (towards the airport) must be addressed as a priority.
Junior football is a very important part of the Eastern Shore community, and family life.
A majority Hodgman Liberal Government will support junior football in Pembroke by providing:
$125,000 for the Clarence Junior Football Club to construct new toilets, a kiosk and extra lights at their training ground at Howrah Primary.
$20,000 to assist the Lindisfarne Junior Football Club continue their Football Opportunity program
TOOL is a not-for-profit community organisation which assists disadvantaged youth on the Eastern Shore with education, training and life skills.
A majority Hodgman Liberal Government will provide $340,000 over two years to ensure the continued operation of this vital program.
Vanessa will play a key role in a majority Liberal Government. -Hon Will Hodgman MP
